This original inkwork and Colour pencil on prepared, crinkled Indian-ink infused, felt-backed Masa paper vibes a decidedly Surrealistic Feel!... I traced the crinkle lines in green ink, Coloured Pencil or left the originally surfaced, black inkwork crackle intact! I INVITE YOU to: close your eyes, open the gates of childhood memory and SEE the land of meadowy flowers where butterflies, dragonflies, fairies and lightning bugs dance!! SMELL the sweetness of the Fields...FEEL the dampness in the twilight air...HEAR the sound of the candy being rolled by your tongue ...TASTE the butterscotch flavor as you swallow and laugh... RUN with me...down the velvety lawn to the meadow’s edge where they frolic and let’s find the narrow, child wide, threshed path into this land of Make-Believe! Listen to the crickets chirp and cicadas sing as the butterflies noiselessly kiss the flowers’ nectar away and the MOONLIGHT encourages you to play awhile longer... and so, ...
This piece was inspired as Contest Logo in preparation for an upcoming contest I hope to host to honor FAA Artist, Helen Duley. Her “ numinous” work reveals an exotic Magic Forest Life and her quill traces lacework not unlike patterns of Fine Royal Winton Chintz...here and there and all about her creatures of the Night! Enjoy!
