Description
This mixed media hand painting in both Colour pencil and digital hand paint was created for The Artist BUZzz Neurographic Art Contest, focus- Sleepy Time. I created the center CP painting on vellum and dropped it onto a midnight blue digital canvas for additional Lightpen neurographics. On examining the stretched, exaggerated, finished piece, it occurred to me, the extended traditional-digital exercise was more than trying to reintroduce the beautiful, glittery Gellyroll pen Neural line accents that I lost to background fill; it conveyed my neural impulses to meld both my dream and reality states.
As a child, reality was starkly lived in the city; however, on weekends, the woodland fringed, beautifully tended floral and vegetal gardens at my pépère’s occasioned much exploration and daydreaming. My mémère loved the morning sunrises casting rosy glows on the windows of her favorite home nestled into the mountains beyond the meadows and nearby development. It was built with a well moneyed eye for the view and her modest bungalow with its tiny windowed view from the slight hill seemed to pale in its presence. I remember saying I loved her home with its windows as we sat on the porch eating breakfast from our favorite metal rocking chairs and she would wistfully respond, they were: “seulement mes châteaux d’Espagne..” I now live in my dream-home which I built with twin turret styled bump outs and a huge wall window that faces East and Mary will call me on certain days when the sunrise burns thru the fog and say my home is ablaze in a beautiful glow of rosy orange windows and I should drive down the hill to see it. I often do…and I smile and send a thought connect to mémère’s memories that my husband and I brought into my reality, fondly called, …Laurelland. Everyone has a different version of what their “dream home” means…this is an obviously stylized version, however, to me, anywhere we call “home” has been our castle…this time, however, there is a solid foundation beneath it..:-).
“This artwork was created using Neurographic Art techniques as developed by Pavel Piskarev in 2014.”
NOTE: Within the controversial distinction of CP “drawing” or “painting” lies artist definition. My definition: when the surface is ENTIRELY burnished, I classify as a Painting; when any exposed Paper Is part of the composition or background, I classify as a drawing. I render both.
