This original colour pencil twilight rendering was inspired by a triad of ART MEETING DESIGN desires:...first to depart from the beautiful albeit constrained detail work demands of photo reference art and second to fuel inspiration from ( the late great painter) Robert Genn and (and his daughter ) Sarah’s Twice Weekly Letter, “ The Painters Keys”. The topic, “ Six exercises in Magic” set my blood racing and my creative muse leading the way. Google it for FUN...it involves dividing a small canvas into six areas...painting warm to cool, side by side areas of either primary or secondary Colour of the same intensity and value, painting areas of formless recession and protrusion, painting alternating patches of tone or Colour along a partly disclosed curve while holding THE LINE..
...yes...a lot of form within formlessness going on ...YAY!! ...I’m in the meditational zone! Then the last two exercises call for developing a “ transformer” and painting a “ simple” life...
