Description
This original mixed media, multiple-edit of my birthday gift sculpture to FAA friend, D., Only a Fine Day, was edited both by her and yet again by me for this month’s EDIT my Art v08 contest, theme-diptych Contest. In original form, it is a cylindrical dome on raw wood base with organic treasures.
This original mixed media, multiple-edit of my organic, eclectic, LANDMARK birthday gift, butterfly sculpture to FAA friend, D., Only a Fine Day, was edited both by her and yet again by me for this month’s EDIT my Art v08, diptych themed Contest. In original form, it is a diminutive 7” cylindrical dome on 4” raw wood base housing a unique sculpture of organic treasures, selected from her portfolio themes: rocks, trees, butterflies, desert spaces, and unexpected, FUN imaginaria. Mary’s husband, Joe, helped me realize my vision for a delicate diminutive with his treasure trove of odds and ends, his sculpted bits of metal and wood, and jars of things like river sand of different grit sizes and interesting twigs, driftwood, and…the list goes on! More details can be found in the description of my original digitally isolated photograph, “SpeciaLAndmark” on the last page of my portfolio.
We have challenged each other to edit our edits throughout her monthly contests and this was one more chance to honor her birthday a bit early as I am unsure of the extent of my online presence due to personal challenges over the next few months.
The intent of this edit was to mimic the seamless flow of my “Seasons in Laurelland” acrylic painting with four globes: lower right- Winter, with its “ traditional snow globe”, made not so traditional with digitally hand painted lightpen star scatter between the Lightpen blue snowflakes and a blue poinsettia base; upper right- Autumn, with swirls of falling oak leaves (another fav from her portfolio) and a pumpkin base…separated for diptych criteria by a vertical garland of LightPen Laurel leaves… left upper - Spring, with its feather flurries and woodland fiddle ferned base, and left lower, (early) Summer - with tree-flower blossom scatter swirling above June ruffled mutually faved irises.
This detailed explanation hopefully conveys the exacting attention taken to honor the aesthetic of a fellow artist (and now friend) for her special September Day. Pre- HAPPY BIRTHDAY wishes and hugs go your way, my friend. THANK YOU for everything that you do for me and for fellow artists by way of encouragement, contest hosting, image featuring, and creatively inspiring!! You are an amazing person, dear D. Thank you for being one of those WOnDERful artists who bring MAGIC to this site and make it a place to find a smile, beauty and kindness.
