Description
This is my “Fantaliens in Dreamland” montage of BOTH: my acrylic pour on Duralar (with cling wrap and my husband’s “smooching” the colours for me) and D., Only a Fine Day’s Digital Edit entitled “Fairy Nymphs in a Mushroom-Two Wings-PNG”; both were printed on glossy photo paper with hers hand cut/dropped onto my abstracted background and finished with my hand drawn FANTASY metallics added using a metallic silver gelpen. I shamelessly took advantage of evening spotlight lighting and reflection orbs off the glossy photo paper to simulate the miracle of transformation otherworldliness.
There is always a “story” underlying the inspiration for anything artistic I touch. The truth is D.’s “Seated figure 360” sculpture and her backstory touched me last year when I first saw it. Here is an excerpt from her description:
“This 4-way view of my plaster sculpture represents courage and defiance against adversity, pain and loss. Inspired by my personal trials, it translates to almost everyone's personal trials. It depicts the royalty of overcoming suffering and yields hope for a better day…The poem, 'Footprints' always comes to mind under this condition. “
When I saw this month’s theme “Fantasy” and her metamorphosis series…I was spellbound. She had taken a POWERFUL sculptural depiction of a human BEing’s ability to endure pain, adversity, powerlessness and …transmuted it by digitally collaging her sculpture with her Colour Pencil butterfly to portray the “ROYALTY” of Overcoming …thru! In my “Fantasy” entries, I hope to use this reference for the second entry as well to portray “THE BEAUTY” of one’s wounds.
