This original colour pencil painting was rendered to compliment my best friend Mary’s FAA “Mary’s Meadow” shower curtain product art choice for her guest bathroom. The original “Mary’s Meadow” was painted as a 36x24 canvas wrapped acrylic and hangs in her living room from Spring thru early Autumn. Her obsession with these meadow beauties led her to purchase more FAA product...hand towels for her guest bath to match the shower curtain...and, upon viewing her latest bathroom design additions, I noticed the bathroom wall art of my Siberian irises no longer belonged. That was her last purple craze. She smiled...knowing my creative wheels were churning and said: “What do you think?” She’s expecting company soon and I shook my head laughing. Getting the measuring tape to verify the size required, she knew....she had conned me into yet another piece of artwork! I played with cropping to make a finder-detail from the original and this new Colour Pencil painting is the result. Mrs. Spoiled is going to get “ More Mary’s Meadow” tomorrow after Tea. It really DOES look nice on product art and even better on the wall! WAIT UNTIL SHE SEES THE DUVET!....ha! Go ahead...check it out!
NOTE: Within the controversial distinction of CP “drawing” or “painting” lies artist definition. My definition: when the surface is ENTIRELY burnished, I classify as a Painting; when any exposed Paper Is part of the composition or background, I classify as a drawing. I render both.
