Mixed Media - Mixed-cp Resist-acrylic Pour
Description
This original mixed media floral abstract of a bi-coloured, ruffled Iris was inspired by an experimentation with Prismacolor wax based Colour Pencil drawn “resist” and a series of planar, diluted acrylic pours on 300# paper. It is a timely follow up to my gouache resist with Indian ink flood exercises to see if wax based colour pencil would work sufficiently as a “resist”…. It is serving a dual purpose for the Beauty and the BUZzz -WHEN and WHAT contest as well. I am pleased with the overall Light effect on the delicate yellow standards, am likewise impressed with the “resist” spotted and veined details on the purple falls ( YES!… the resist HELD!) and the gradations of background flood variations. The most EXCITING element to this exercise is it allows me the opportunity to revisit my loves of BOTH: painting and colour pencil.
